How do I forward missed calls on T-Mobile to an answering line?

On T-Mobile, dial **61*1 followed by the 10-digit number and # for calls you do not answer, **67*1 plus the number and # for calls that come in while you are on the phone, and **62*1 plus the number and # for when the phone is off or out of signal. T-Mobile writes it as **61*1+PhoneNumber#, so the number starts with 1. Turn each off with ##61#, ##67# or ##62#.

You can also choose how long the phone rings first: add two stars and the seconds before the #, from 5 up to 30 seconds. Avoid **21*, which forwards every call and, in T-Mobile’s words, “prevents calls to your number”. T-Mobile’s short-codes page, read on 31 Oct 2026, calls the codes “fast and free” but says nothing about airtime on forwarded calls.

How it works

  1. No answer: **61*1, the number, #

Dial **61*1 followed by the 10-digit number and #, then press Call. T-Mobile writes it **61*1+PhoneNumber#.

  2. Busy: **67*1, the number, #

Dial **67*1+PhoneNumber#. T-Mobile says busy forwarding “occurs if receiving a call while dialing out”.

  3. Unreachable: **62*1, the number, #

Dial **62*1+PhoneNumber# for when the phone is off or out of signal.

  4. Choose the delay

To change how long the phone rings before an unanswered call moves on, add two stars and the seconds before the #: **61*1+PhoneNumber**seconds#, with 5, 10, 15, up to 30 seconds. T-Mobile’s example, **61*18056377243**10#, sets a 10-second delay.

  5. Turn it off

##61# turns off no answer, ##67# busy and ##62# unreachable. T-Mobile says ##004# “resets call forwarding to default”. Forward all, if you set it, is ##21#.

  6. Test it before you rely on it

Call your business number from another phone and let it ring without answering. The call should reach the answering line after the ring time. If you set busy forwarding, call again while the line is in use, and if you set unreachable, try once with the phone switched off.

What it costs to run

T-Mobile’s short-codes page calls the codes “fast and free” but does not say whether forwarded calls use minutes. T-Mobile’s calling-services page and terms could not be read on 31 Oct 2026, so check your plan or ask T-Mobile.

When it is not worth it

  • On a DIGITS line or a second SIM, the codes may not work: T-Mobile says most short codes are delivered only to the primary SIM and may not work on DIGITS lines.
  • If you want every call to go to the answering line, **21*1+PhoneNumber# forwards all of them, and your phone will not ring.

Questions

Why does T-Mobile put a 1 before the number?

T-Mobile writes the number as 1+PhoneNumber: 11 digits starting with 1. Use the format its page shows.

Do these codes work on an iPhone too?

Yes, you dial them from the Phone app’s keypad on any phone. They follow the GSM standard (3GPP TS 22.030: 61 no reply, 67 busy, 62 not reachable). T-Mobile notes most short codes are country specific.

How do I check what is set?

The 3GPP standard uses *#61#, *#67# and *#62# to check status. T-Mobile’s page does not list them, so treat them as the standard rather than T-Mobile’s word.
