How do I forward missed calls on Comcast Business Voice to an answering line?

On a Comcast Business Voice or VoiceEdge Select phone, lift the receiver, press *92 for no answer (or *90 for busy), dial the answering line at the second dial tone and wait for the confirmation tone. Press *93 to turn no-answer forwarding off and *91 for busy. Online, the same settings let you choose the number of rings before forwarding.

Business VoiceEdge is a different product and is set only online, with no star codes. Comcast’s own pages disagree on the code for Call Forwarding Not Reachable (*58 on one page, *59 on the other), so set that one online. Do not use no-answer forwarding on a phone in a Hunt Group. From Comcast’s support pages, read on 31 Oct 2026.

How it works

  1. From the phone: *92 or *90

Business Voice and VoiceEdge Select: lift the receiver, press *92 (no answer) or *90 (busy), dial the destination at the second dial tone, and wait for the confirmation tone.

  2. Online, with the number of rings

My Account, Phone, Features, Call Forwarding. Turn on Call Forwarding No Answer, click Edit to enter the number, and choose the “Number of rings before forwarding”. Busy, Always, Not Reachable and Selective are on the same page. A new number has to be entered and saved first. The pages do not list the ring values.

  3. Business VoiceEdge: online only

My Account, Business VoiceEdge User, turn Call Forwarding No Answer, Busy, Always or Not Reachable On, click the pencil icon to enter the number, choose the Number of Rings Before Forwarding and confirm with the checkmark. That page lists no star codes.

  4. Turn it off

*93 (no answer), *91 (busy), *73 (always), *83 then 3 (selective). Online, switch the rule off on the same page.

  5. Test it before you rely on it

Call your business number from another phone and let it ring without answering. The call should reach the answering line after the ring time. If you set busy forwarding, call again while the line is in use, and if you set unreachable, try once with the phone switched off.

What it costs to run

Comcast’s pages read on 31 Oct 2026 state no fee for call forwarding. Two conditions are stated: for Not Reachable, “the forwarding phone number must be permitted by your outgoing calling plan”, and calls must not be forwarded to international (011) numbers.

When it is not worth it

  • If the phone is part of a Hunt Group: Comcast says busy forwarding is not available with Hunt Group and “Do not activate Call Forwarding No Answer if the phone is part of a Hunt Group.”
  • If you only want a backup for outages: Call Forwarding Not Reachable is Comcast’s disaster-recovery feature for power or network outages, not a missed-call setting.

Questions

Which code turns on Not Reachable forwarding?

Comcast’s pages disagree: the phone page says *58 to turn it on and *59 to turn it off, while the online page gives *59 for both. Set it online to be sure.

Why did *72 not stay on?

With *72 (forward always), stay on the line until the destination answers. If nobody answers, hang up and press *72 again within two minutes. *72 sends every call on, so the phone stops ringing.

Can I forward to a number abroad?

No. Comcast says not to forward to international (011) numbers.
