AI Automation Agency in the United States
Betterlane is an AI agency (also called an AI automation agency) that builds and runs assistants and automations for US service businesses, remotely. Its co-founder, Ricardo Mello, works from Arizona, in the Phoenix area, and leads our work in the United States.
Three kinds of work, from one partner: a phone assistant that answers the calls home-service trades miss on a job and texts each job to the team, anywhere in the US; assistants that answer customers by chat, text or WhatsApp; and office desks that take repeat requests off insurance agencies and property managers. Our work today centers on Phoenix and Miami, and on home-service trades nationwide, in English and Spanish.
Every assistant answers only from information the business approved and hands anything unusual to a person with a summary. Calls and messages start with the first flow built free in ten days; office desks start with one of your own requests done before you pay anything.
What is an AI automation agency?
An AI automation agency builds and runs the software that takes a business’s repeat front-desk and office work off its team: assistants that answer customers on the website, WhatsApp, text or the phone, and the workflows that carry each enquiry, booking and document into the tools the team already uses. Unlike a chatbot or AI receptionist bought off the shelf, an agency designs the work around the business’s own process, builds it in the business’s own accounts and keeps it working after launch. Betterlane is an AI automation agency for service businesses: every assistant answers only from what the business approved and hands anything unusual to a person with a summary.
Why Betterlane
- Built and run for you
- We build the assistant or the desk, test it with your team and keep it working after launch: answers updated, breakages fixed. You do not get a dashboard to configure on your own.
- Built to your own process
- Your answers, your hours and your rules for what it never says are written down before work starts. It fits the way your team already works instead of asking the team to change.
- On your own accounts
- Your phone number, WhatsApp number, inbox, calendar and data stay yours, and you keep them if you stop working with us.
- One partner for messages, phone and office work
- The same team builds the chat on your website and WhatsApp, the phone assistant and the office automations behind them, with one set of answers and one hand-off to your team.
- Start before you pay
- For calls and messages, the first flow is built free in ten days; if it does not do what was scoped, you pay nothing and keep it. Office desks for insurance agencies and property managers start with one of your own requests, names blacked out, done before you pay anything.
What we build
- AI chatbots for websites
- A chat on the business's site that answers from its own pages and approved answers, books or records the enquiry, and passes anything else to a person with a summary.
- WhatsApp assistants
- On the business's own WhatsApp number, through Meta's official Cloud API: it answers, offers times, sends reminders and hands over to the team with a summary.
- AI voice agents (AI receptionist)
- Answers inbound calls, takes the reason for the call and the caller’s details, books where the calendar allows and passes anything unusual to staff.
- Workflow automation with n8n
- Enquiries from the website, WhatsApp and email land in one place, reach the right person and get their follow-up, across the CRM, calendar and inbox the team already uses.
- Document processing
- Forms, invoices and PDFs read into structured data, with a person checking before anything is filed or sent.
Industries we build for in the US
Each has its own page: what it answers, what it never says, and how it works beside the software you already use.
- Home services
- Plumbing, heating and air, electrical, roofing and garage doors: a phone assistant answers the calls you miss on a job, asks what the job is and where, and texts it to your team.
- Insurance agencies
- A certificate desk: certificate requests in your inbox are read, checked against your policy data and drafted for a person at the agency to approve, with renewals coming up listed ahead.
- Property management
- A work-order desk: maintenance emails and messages become work orders in the software you use, where it allows access, and owner reports are written on your schedule.
- Real estate
- Listing questions answered while agents are at showings, the buyer or renter qualified, and a viewing or call offered in the same conversation.
- Clinics
- Dental and aesthetic practices: questions answered from the practice’s own information, a time offered, and anything about health passed to the front desk.
The kinds of AI agency in the US, and which one we are
Companies that call themselves an AI agency in the US do quite different work. Knowing which kind you need saves the first few calls.
Custom AI software
They build models and applications to order: computer vision, prediction, an app with AI inside. Right for a product or a large internal system.
AI consulting for larger organizations
Strategy, governance, training and internal copilots across a company.
AI marketing and creative
Campaigns, content and advertising produced or run with AI.
Assistants and automation for service businesses
A phone assistant, a chat or text assistant, and the office desks and workflows that connect them to the calendar, the CRM, the inbox and the industry software. This is what Betterlane does, built and run for the business.
How it works
A 20-minute call
We look at where calls, messages and office requests arrive today and pick one to start with: the calls missed on a job, the questions that repeat all day, or a stack of requests your office handles by hand.
A written scope
One page says what it answers or does, what it hands to a person and how it will be tested, before anything is built.
Built on your accounts
Your phone number, inbox, software and data stay yours. Your team tests it on real calls, messages or requests before it goes live.
Live, with a person behind it
Anything unusual or sensitive goes to your team with a summary. We watch how it answers, fix what breaks and update it when your information changes.
Then decide
For calls and messages, the first flow is free: if it does not do what was scoped, you pay nothing and keep it. Office desks start with one of your own requests done before any payment. Everything after that is agreed in writing before we start.
What we measured
Our own checks in Miami: the websites of 149 brokerages on our list, September 17, 2026, and the enquiry forms of ten dental and aesthetic practices, September 26, 2026. Small samples; no business is named. Our larger US study, of home-service hours in 20 cities, is linked below.
- 12 of 149 brokerage websites had a chat
- Most send a buyer with a question about a listing to a form or a phone number. An assistant can answer while the buyer is still on the page.
- 7 of 149 offered online booking of a viewing or a call
- Booking usually means waiting for a call back. An assistant can offer the time in the same conversation where the question was asked.
- Five of ten practice forms required a phone number
- Two of those five accepted only a US-format number, and one also asked for a date of birth. An assistant can answer the question first and ask for details only at booking.

Who is behind Betterlane
Betterlane is run by its two founders, both from Recife, Brazil. Thiago Cavalcanti works from Dubai and builds the assistants and automations himself, in n8n and in code. Ricardo Mello works from Arizona, where he leads Betterlane’s work in the United States.
In the United States our work today centers on Phoenix and Miami, on home-service trades nationwide, and on office work for insurance agencies and property managers.
Your first call is with one of the founders, and the people who build your system are the ones who keep it running.
What it costs to run
Two things cost money to run, whoever builds it: the model that writes the replies, billed by its provider per token (a small piece of a word), and, on WhatsApp, Meta’s fee per delivered message. The WhatsApp prices below are for customers with a US number; messages customers send are free.
| Item | List price | Source |

What to ask an AI agency in the US before you hire, and our answers
These questions are worth asking any agency, us included.
Can I see it working before I pay?
Yes. Call our demo line, (786) 751-9525, or build a phone assistant from your own website in about a minute. The free AI audit does the same for chat. Then the first flow for calls or messages is built free in ten days, to a written scope; office desks start with one of your own requests done before you pay anything.
What exactly will it do, and what will it never do?
Both are written down before work starts: what it answers from, what it records or drafts, and what it hands to a person. The phone assistant never gives a price or promises a time, and a person approves anything sensitive an office desk prepares.
Whose accounts and data are they?
Yours. The phone number, the inbox, the calendar, the CRM or industry software and the data stay in your accounts, and we say where each part runs.
What does it cost to run each month?
Two outside costs, whoever builds it: the model that writes the replies and, on WhatsApp, Meta’s fee per delivered message. The list prices for US numbers are in the table above. Our own fee is agreed in writing before work starts; we do not publish prices.
Who looks after it after launch?
We do. That is agreed before we start, not after: models, prices and connected tools change, so someone has to watch the system and fix what breaks.
Does it work with my software?
We check what access your software allows before we promise any connection. Where there is none, the work lands in your team’s inbox or as a text, ready to use. We never claim a connection we have not built.
When you don’t need an agency
- If a tool you already pay for does the job, use it. Many booking systems send their own reminders, and WhatsApp Business has built-in replies; we say so on the first call.
- If someone on your team has the time and likes building, a chatbot tool or n8n on your own is often cheaper. The comparison pages below show when that is the better choice.
- If your answers, prices and rules change every week and nobody owns them, sort that out first. An assistant repeats what it is given.
- If customers rarely write or call, a person answering is enough, and nothing needs automating.
What does an AI automation agency cost in the United States?
List prices other sellers print on their own pages, read 8–31 October 2026, from our study. They are not Betterlane’s prices: Betterlane publishes no price and quotes each job after a short call; calls and messages start with the first flow built free in ten days, and office desks with one of your own requests done before you pay anything.
What does a done-for-you AI service cost per month in the US?
A median of $298 a month, across 29 agencies and productized sellers that print a monthly price (read Oct 2026); middle half $200–500, range $129–15,000.
What does an AI phone receptionist cost in the US?
Done for you, a median of $297 a month across 12 sellers (read Oct 2026); middle half $273–334. Self-serve receptionist and chatbot tools the business sets up itself: a median of $49 a month (13 tools).
Do US AI agencies charge a setup fee?
17 of the 41 done-for-you sellers that print a price charge one (41.5%); the published fee has a median of $500 (14 amounts, read Oct 2026).
Do US AI agencies publish their prices?
Most do not. Of the 24 AI agencies that AI answer engines and web search named for Miami, 15 do not publish one (62.5%). The 7 agencies that print an entry project or audit price have a median of $999 (range $500–3,500, read Oct 2026).

Questions
How much does an AI agency cost in the US?
It depends on the work. We do not publish prices: each job is quoted after a short call and agreed in writing before we start. The first flow for calls or messages is built free in ten days, and office desks start with one of your own requests done before you pay anything. Running costs, such as Meta’s per-message fees and the language model, are in the table above with their sources.
Are you in the United States?
Our co-founder, Ricardo Mello, works from Arizona, in the Phoenix area; Thiago Cavalcanti works from Dubai. We work with US businesses remotely, in English and Spanish, with calls online, and everything is built on the business’s own accounts. We have no US office.
Do you only work in Phoenix and Miami?
No. Those are the cities we work in most today. The phone assistant for home-service trades and the office desks run anywhere in the US, because they work on your own phone number, inbox and software.
How long does it take?
The first flow for calls or messages takes ten days from the written scope. An office desk starts with one of your own requests, done before any payment; the setup is planned from there, in steps, each with its own scope.
Which tools do you build with?
Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API, n8n for workflows, the business's own calendar, CRM and inbox, and a language model from a major provider for the replies. Tools are chosen per job, and the accounts stay the business's.
Who owns what you build?
The business owns the WhatsApp number, the Meta account, the calendar and the conversations, and keeps them if it stops working with us. The assistant runs on our server and we maintain it.
Does the assistant answer everything on its own?
No. It answers only from information the business approved. Anything else, and anything sensitive such as health questions or complaints, goes to a person with a summary.
