How do I forward missed calls on AT&T Phone for Business?

On AT&T Phone for Business, press *92, enter the forwarding number and press # to send calls nobody answers to an answering line; press *90, the number and # for calls that arrive while the line is busy. Turn them off with *93# and *91#. AT&T lists the same codes for AT&T Phone and Phone - Advanced.

Do not dial *61: on these lines it is call blocking. Today your unanswered and busy calls probably go to voicemail; pointing them at an answering line replaces voicemail for those calls. AT&T’s pages, read on 31 Oct 2026, give no ring count and state no forwarding fee.

How it works

  1. No answer: *92

From the business phone, press *92, enter the forwarding number and press #. Off: *93#.

  2. Busy: *90

Press *90, enter the number and press #. Off: *91#.

  3. Outages: *372

Safe Call Forwarding sends calls on during a network outage, or a power outage once the battery backup runs out: press *372, the number and #. Off: *373#, which erases the stored numbers.

  4. Or set the numbers online

Numbers saved in your online account (att.com/mybusiness) do not need re-entering by phone. Under AT&T Phone for Business, Manage my plan, Voicemail Settings, No Answer and Busy forwarding show “Forward to Voice Mail”; pointing them at the answering line replaces voicemail.

  5. Forward all only if you mean it

*72, the number and # forwards every call, and the phone stops ringing; *73# turns it off.

  6. Test it before you rely on it

Call your business number from another phone and let it ring without answering. The call should reach the answering line after the ring time. If you set busy forwarding, call again while the line is in use, and if you set unreachable, try once with the phone switched off.

What it costs to run

The AT&T Phone for Business pages read on 31 Oct 2026 state no fee for forwarding. Ask AT&T whether forwarded calls are billed on your plan, especially to numbers outside your local area.

When it is not worth it

  • On a traditional AT&T business line, AT&T’s article gives only forward-all (*72 or 72#, then the number, with 1 and 10 digits for long distance), which turns on only “if the forward-to party answers the call”; it gives no busy or no-answer codes.
  • Exclusive Call Forwarding (*63# / *83#) forwards only selected numbers; it is not missed-call forwarding.

Questions

Is *61 forwarding?

No. On AT&T Phone for Business and AT&T home digital lines, *61 is call blocking.

How many rings before it forwards?

AT&T’s pages do not say. Call from another phone and count.

Will callers still reach my voicemail?

Not for the calls you forward: the answering line takes them. Turn forwarding off (*93# and *91#) and they go back to voicemail.
