How do I forward missed calls on Spectrum Business Voice to an answering line?

Spectrum’s Business Voice user guide says no-answer and busy forwarding are set only in the portal (Spectrum Business Voice Manager): Call Forward No Answer “can only be managed via the portal”, and Call Forward Busy “cannot be setup or modified” from the handset. In the portal you choose the number and how many rings before the call moves on.

Spectrum’s own pages disagree: its Home Phone star-code page lists *92 (missed calls) and *90 (busy), with *93 and *91 to turn them off, and the Business FAQ says handset star codes “may have recently changed”. Use the portal, or test a code before relying on it. *61 is call blocking on Spectrum lines, not forwarding. From Spectrum’s pages, read on 31 Oct 2026.

How it works

  1. Set no answer and busy in the portal

Spectrum Business Voice Manager: turn on Call Forward No Answer and Call Forward Busy and enter the answering line. No answer forwards calls “not answered within a specified number of rings”, set in the portal; the guide does not list the values. Spectrum’s Home Phone page describes the online path as Sign in, Services, Business Phone (or Home Phone), Manage Settings, Call Forwarding, Missed Calls or Busy Line, Forward to Phone Number, Save.

  2. Know what it replaces

With Voicemail, no-answer and busy forwarding go to voicemail by default. Pointing them at an answering line means voicemail no longer gets those calls.

  3. Forward all from the handset, if you want that

Press *72, listen for the dial tone, enter the 10-digit number and wait for the confirmation announcement. Press *73 to turn it off. Every call goes on, so the phone stops ringing.

  4. Turn it off, and remember to

Spectrum: “You must remember to deactivate Call Forwarding. Calls will continue to forward to the chosen number and bypass voicemail until Call Forwarding is deactivated.” Switch the rules off in the portal, or *73 for forward-all.

  5. Test it before you rely on it

Call your business number from another phone and let it ring without answering. The call should reach the answering line after the ring time. If you set busy forwarding, call again while the line is in use, and if you set unreachable, try once with the phone switched off.

What it costs to run

Spectrum’s pages read on 31 Oct 2026 state no cost for call forwarding on Business Voice.

When it is not worth it

  • If your lines use hunting: Spectrum says hunting overrides busy and no-answer forwarding (and forward-all on the main number overrides hunting).
  • Spectrum Business Connect was not covered by the pages read; check with Spectrum if that is your service.

Questions

Do *92 and *90 work on Business Voice?

Spectrum’s Home Phone page lists them, but the Business Voice user guide says no-answer and busy forwarding are portal-only, and the Business FAQ lists no forwarding codes and says star codes “may have recently changed”. Test the code, or use the portal. Spectrum Technical Support: 888-812-2591.

Is *61 call forwarding on Spectrum?

No. On Spectrum lines *61 is call blocking.

Can calls forward when the power or service is out?

Spectrum’s Home Phone page lists Backup Phone, which forwards calls during a power or service outage, set online only. The Business Voice pages read do not list a code for it.
