Betterlane vs InsuranceAgency.AI for agencies issuing certificates of insurance
InsuranceAgency.AI is one of the few certificate tools with a published price: $5,000 a month on a 12-month term plus a one-time $10,000 implementation fee (as published, 31 Oct 2026), for a broad platform across many agency workflows. Betterlane starts where the requests already arrive: certificate requests in your agency’s own inbox are read, the details checked against the policy data you give us access to, and a draft certificate prepared for a person at the agency to approve and send, with a renewal list of policies expiring 60 days out and the missing details chased. We build it in your own accounts and run it for you, and one of your own requests is done first, before you pay anything.
Choose InsuranceAgency.AI if you want one platform for certificates, ACORD forms, quoting and renewals at once, or you run Momentum AMP, which it connects to natively. If your insureds already self-issue certificates through a portal, Applied Epic’s Service Portal (for agencies on Epic) or Certificate Hero may be the simpler fit; both are priced on request.
See it on your own work first
We do one of your own requests first, with names blacked out, before you pay anything. The setup is paid half to start and half when the desk is live on your real requests, and then it runs month to month, with no long-term contract.
After you say yes
Day 1 starts when your intake is back and the booking step is checked. If that slips, the date moves and we tell you the same day.
On day 9 we go through the agreed scope with you, line by line, on a 15-minute video call. A line that fails is fixed and checked again.
If it does not do what we agreed by day 10, it keeps running free for 30 days while we fix it or you decide. Then either you pay monthly, only if it now does what was agreed, or it is switched off and we hand over what is yours: the approved facts, the answers, the booking rules and a setup note any builder can follow. Nothing is invoiced for any of it.
Payment starts only if it does what was agreed and you choose to keep it running: monthly from day 11, at an amount you know before day 1. Month to month: if you stop, it is switched off.
The monthly covers hosting and usage; us reading the conversations and fixing wrong answers and bugs; changes to your hours, services and staff within 2 business days; help by email or WhatsApp within 1 business day, the same day if something is broken (business days are Monday to Friday, Dubai time, and planned absences are told to you in advance); and a short note each month. Meta’s WhatsApp fees, if any, are billed on your own Meta account.
Check it yourself
The assistant’s code is covered by 72 automated tests, which run before any change goes live; all 72 passed on 7 Oct 2026.
Where the data goes, in short: the assistant and its database run in the region closest to your customers (São Paulo for the Americas; London or Frankfurt for the UK, Europe or the Gulf, set up before day 1); replies are written by OpenAI’s model through Vercel’s AI Gateway with zero data retention, in US data centres, or EU ones for Europe; we do not publish a standard data processing agreement yet. If your customers’ data has to stay in one country, check this before anything else.
Betterlane and InsuranceAgency.AI side by side
| Betterlane | InsuranceAgency.AI | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An agency: we build and run a certificate desk in your own inbox and accounts | An AI layer on top of your agency management system; its “Service Request AI agent” issues certificates, and it also handles renewal lists, ACORD forms and quoting13 |
| Where requests come in | Your agency’s own inbox, where certificate requests already arrive | Chat or a dedicated email inbox13 |
| Before a certificate goes out | The details are checked against the policy data you give us access to, and a draft certificate is prepared; a person at the agency approves and sends every one | Missing information is flagged, not guessed; work that “requires judgment” is “routed back to your team with the context already gathered”12 |
| Renewals | A renewal list of policies expiring 60 days out, with missing details chased | Renewal lists, alongside ACORD forms and quoting1 |
| Agency management system | Built in your own accounts, on the system you already use where it allows access; we check that before we start | “AMS-agnostic”: native for Momentum AMP; other systems through “API, browser integration, or direct data access”1 |
| Who sets it up and runs it | Betterlane builds it, runs it and changes it; you approve the checks, the wording and what needs a person | Done with you: the implementation fee covers configuration, workflow setup, onboarding, training and go-live support. Access starts with an application21 |
| E&O | No certificate leaves without a person at the agency approving it | Its own FAQ says the agency must confirm E&O coverage with its carrier2 |
| How you start and pay | We do one of your own requests first, with names blacked out, before you pay anything. The setup is then paid half to start and half when the desk is live on your real requests, and after that it runs month to month, with no long-term contract. | “$5,000 per month on a 12-month term”, plus “a one-time $10,000 implementation fee”2 |
When each one is the better choice
- Betterlane when certificate requests reach your inbox by email and you want them read, checked and drafted for your team to approve, in your own accounts, run for you, starting with one desk built free that you keep if it fails, and with no 12-month commitment.
- InsuranceAgency.AI when you want one platform across certificates, ACORD forms, quoting and renewals and can commit to its published price and term, or you run Momentum AMP.
- Applied Epic’s Service Portal when your agency runs on Applied Epic and your insureds are happy to request and pull their own certificates in a portal or app.
- Certificate Hero when you want dedicated certificate software with an ACORD editor and a self-service portal for insureds, run by your own processors.

Questions
Does Betterlane replace our agency management system?
No. The certificate desk works from your inbox and the policy data you give us access to, in your own accounts; your management system stays where it is. Where it allows access, we check that before we start.
Who signs off a certificate?
A person at your agency. The desk reads the request, checks the details and prepares the draft; nothing is sent until someone on your team approves it.
Our insureds already use a portal. Is this still useful?
It covers the requests that still arrive by email, which a self-service portal does not read. If nearly every request already comes through your portal, the portal may be enough.
