Betterlane vs Jobber’s AI Receptionist for home-service businesses

Updated Oct 31, 2026

Jobber’s Receptionist is a setting inside Jobber: you switch it on in six in-app steps, and it answers calls, texts and website chat and books into your Jobber schedule. Betterlane is for the shop that wants more than a setting: an agency that builds a phone assistant around your own questions, wording, services and towns, runs it and changes it for you, and does not depend on any scheduling software, because each call reaches your team as a text. The first flow is built free in ten days: if it does not do what was scoped, you pay nothing and keep it.

Choose Jobber’s Receptionist when you are on Jobber and want visits booked straight into the schedule, calls transferred by keyword, or calls, texts and chat in one place: our phone assistant does not book or transfer. It takes the job, the address, how soon and a callback number, reads them back, puts safety first on gas, sparks, flooding or carbon monoxide, and texts your team a summary of every call.

Test it before you pay

The first flow is built free in ten days, against a scope and tests we agree with you before we start. If it does not pass them, you pay nothing and keep it: it runs free for 30 more days while we fix it or you decide, then it is either paid monthly or switched off with your facts, answers and setup notes handed over.

After you say yes

  1. Day 1 starts when your intake is back and the booking step is checked. If that slips, the date moves and we tell you the same day.

  2. On day 9 we go through the agreed scope with you, line by line, on a 15-minute video call. A line that fails is fixed and checked again.

  3. If it does not do what we agreed by day 10, it keeps running free for 30 days while we fix it or you decide. Then either you pay monthly, only if it now does what was agreed, or it is switched off and we hand over what is yours: the approved facts, the answers, the booking rules and a setup note any builder can follow. Nothing is invoiced for any of it.

  4. Payment starts only if it does what was agreed and you choose to keep it running: monthly from day 11, at an amount you know before day 1. Month to month: if you stop, it is switched off.

  5. The monthly covers hosting and usage; us reading the conversations and fixing wrong answers and bugs; changes to your hours, services and staff within 2 business days; help by email or WhatsApp within 1 business day, the same day if something is broken (business days are Monday to Friday, Dubai time, and planned absences are told to you in advance); and a short note each month. Meta’s WhatsApp fees, if any, are billed on your own Meta account.

Check it yourself

The assistant’s code is covered by 72 automated tests, which run before any change goes live; all 72 passed on 7 Oct 2026.

Where the data goes, in short: the assistant and its database run in the region closest to your customers (São Paulo for the Americas; London or Frankfurt for the UK, Europe or the Gulf, set up before day 1); replies are written by OpenAI’s model through Vercel’s AI Gateway with zero data retention, in US data centres, or EU ones for Europe; we do not publish a standard data processing agreement yet. If your customers’ data has to stay in one country, check this before anything else.

When each one is the better choice

  • Betterlane when you schedule in something other than Jobber (or want your phone to work whatever you switch to), you want the assistant built around your own questions and wording and run for you instead of set up in-app, or you want one partner for the phone and the office work behind it, starting with a free first flow you keep if it fails.
  • Jobber’s Receptionist when you already run on Jobber and want visits booked straight into its schedule, calls transferred by keyword, and calls, texts and chat handled in one place.

Questions

Is Betterlane an alternative to Jobber’s Receptionist?

Yes, for a shop not on Jobber, or one that wants the assistant built around its own calls and run for it. If you are on Jobber and want bookings straight into the schedule, Jobber’s Receptionist does that and we do not.

Does Betterlane work with Jobber?

It does not book into Jobber or any calendar. Each call reaches your team as a text with the job, the address, how soon, and the caller’s name and number, and whoever does your scheduling books it from there.

Can I hear it before talking to anyone?

Yes. Type your website at betterlaneagency.com/hear and, in about a minute, you can call a free demo built from it in your browser. It is not connected to your phone.
