Betterlane vs Zavis: an alternative for clinics in Dubai

Updated Oct 7, 2026

Zavis is a Dubai company’s patient platform for UAE clinics: one inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, email, website chat and phone, with AI agents that answer in Arabic and English, book into the clinic’s system, and send recalls, reminders and payment follow-ups. Its team sets it up and trains staff on site.

Betterlane does one part of that: an assistant on the clinic’s own WhatsApp number and website, answering in English from facts the clinic approves, booking where the clinic’s software allows, and passing anything clinical to the team. It does not answer in Arabic, and it runs in Frankfurt, Germany, not in the UAE. Zavis publishes no price.

Test it before you pay

The first flow is built free in ten days, against a scope and tests we agree with you before we start. If it does not pass them, you pay nothing and keep it: it runs free for 30 more days while we fix it or you decide, then it is either paid monthly or switched off with your facts, answers and setup notes handed over.

After you say yes

  1. Day 1 starts when your intake is back and the booking step is checked. If that slips, the date moves and we tell you the same day.

  2. On day 9 we go through the agreed scope with you, line by line, on a 15-minute video call. A line that fails is fixed and checked again.

  3. If it does not do what we agreed by day 10, it keeps running free for 30 days while we fix it or you decide. Then either you pay monthly, only if it now does what was agreed, or it is switched off and we hand over what is yours: the approved facts, the answers, the booking rules and a setup note any builder can follow. Nothing is invoiced for any of it.

  4. Payment starts only if it does what was agreed and you choose to keep it running: monthly from day 11, at an amount you know before day 1. Month to month: if you stop, it is switched off.

  5. The monthly covers hosting and usage; us reading the conversations and fixing wrong answers and bugs; changes to your hours, services and staff within 2 business days; help by email or WhatsApp within 1 business day, the same day if something is broken (business days are Monday to Friday, Dubai time, and planned absences are told to you in advance); and a short note each month. Meta’s WhatsApp fees, if any, are billed on your own Meta account.

Check it yourself

In our own test on 2 Oct 2026, we sent messages we wrote (opening hours, then a listed treatment next week in the morning) to 60 previews built from clinics’ public websites: all 60 answered with no failed or empty reply, the 48 with published hours offered two times inside them and booked the one our script picked on a test calendar, and the other 12 took a request for the team. A vaguer “first consultation” request first got times in 9 of 48; after a rule change, 46 of 48 offered times and booked. These are previews, not clinics’ live systems.

Where the data goes, in short: the assistant and its database run in the region closest to your customers (São Paulo for the Americas; London or Frankfurt for the UK, Europe or the Gulf, set up before day 1); replies are written by OpenAI’s model through Vercel’s AI Gateway with zero data retention, in US data centres, or EU ones for Europe; we do not publish a standard data processing agreement yet. If your customers’ data has to stay in one country, check this before anything else.

What it isAn agency: we build and run the assistant for the clinicAn “AI Patient Operations Platform for UAE Clinics”: inbox, AI agents, phone, campaigns, recalls and payments in one product, from a Dubai company1
Who sets it up and changes itBetterlane builds and changes it; the clinic approves the answers and the rulesDone for you: “Setup handled by our team”, a named onboarding lead and on-site training in Arabic and English3
ChannelsWhatsApp on the clinic’s own number and a chat on its website; no phone callsWhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, SMS, email, website chat and phone calls, in one thread1
LanguagesEnglish, Portuguese and Spanish; not Arabic todayArabic and English on every channel1
What it answers fromThe facts the clinic approves (treatments, prices, hours, insurers accepted), agreed before we build; anything outside them goes to the team with a summary“Your approved content · Services, locations, insurers you accept”1
BookingInto the calendar where the clinic’s software allows it, or by sending the clinic’s booking link; otherwise it records the request for receptionBooks into the clinic’s system; it lists over 50 clinic systems (among them Insta by Practo, Unite, Medas, Zenoti, Cliniko, Pabau, Dentally) and says it confirms coverage “against your instance during onboarding”2
Clinical questionsSet up to give no clinical advice: clinical questions go to the team with a summary, and that is part of the tests agreed before it goes liveClinical questions are “Routed to a clinician. Never answered.”1
Where patient data is processedOutside the UAE: there is no UAE region we can use, so a Dubai clinic’s assistant and database run on Vercel and Neon in Frankfurt, Germany, the nearest one, and the model that writes the replies is reached through Vercel’s AI Gateway with zero data retention and processing in EU data centres. If patient data must stay in the UAE, Betterlane is not the right choice todayIts about page says “UAE-based storage”; its privacy policy says data “may be stored or processed in the UAE or other jurisdictions”4
How it is pricedThe first flow is built free in ten days, against a scope and tests agreed before we start; if it does not do what was scoped, the clinic pays nothing and keeps it. Running it after that is agreed before we start. No price on its own site: “Custom pricing per clinic, quoted on the walkthrough”3

When each one is the better choice

  • Zavis when you want one product for the whole patient side, chat, phone, campaigns, recalls and payments, in Arabic and English, connected to a UAE clinic system and set up on site by a named lead.
  • Betterlane when you only need the WhatsApp and website assistant, answering in English, built around the facts you approve and tested through the free first flow, and patient data does not have to stay in the UAE.

What Zavis and Meta state

Zavis’s own site shows no price (7 October 2026), so only Meta’s rate card is listed. Betterlane publishes no price either: the first flow is built free, and running it afterwards is agreed before we start.

What we measured ourselves (not client work)

Our own research in Dubai, 25 September 2026: we listed 60 businesses (30 dental clinics, 30 beauty salons) and checked their Google listings and websites. No messages were sent, and no business is named.

  • 21 of the 30 clinics listed an 04 landline on Google. An 04 number is a Dubai landline, which usually is not on WhatsApp, so a patient who finds only that number on Google may have no number to message. This records the listings, not whether the clinics answer messages elsewhere.

Questions

Does Betterlane answer in Arabic like Zavis?

No, not today. Betterlane’s assistant answers in English, Portuguese and Spanish. If many of your patients write in Arabic, Zavis fits better.

Which clinic systems do they connect to?

Zavis lists over 50, including Insta by Practo, Unite, Medas and Zenoti, and says it confirms coverage during onboarding. Betterlane books where the clinic’s software allows it, or sends the booking link.

Where is the data kept?

Zavis’s about page says UAE-based storage, and its privacy policy says the UAE or other jurisdictions. Betterlane’s assistant for a Dubai clinic runs in Frankfurt, Germany. If data must stay in the UAE, ask each provider to name its servers in writing.
