Betterlane vs ManyChat: an alternative to ManyChat for clinics that want the assistant built for them
ManyChat is software the clinic’s team subscribes to and sets up. Betterlane builds and runs the assistant for the clinic: it answers only from the clinic’s approved facts, checks the calendar before offering a time, and hands anything clinical or unusual to reception with a summary. Choose ManyChat when most enquiries start on Instagram and you want simple automations there, built by your own team.
Either way, Meta charges for WhatsApp messages separately, and the number and the Meta business account should stay in the clinic’s name.
Betterlane and ManyChat side by side
| Betterlane | ManyChat | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An agency: we build and run the assistant for the business | Subscription software for chat automation on Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and TikTok, priced by active contacts |
| Who builds and changes it | Betterlane builds and changes it; the business approves the answers and the rules | Your team, in the software |
| What it answers from | Only the business’s approved facts; anything outside them goes to a person with a summary | Automations your team builds; AI-powered conversations from Pro |
| Booking | Checks the calendar before offering a time and confirms it, or only records the request | Not listed on its pricing page |
| WhatsApp number | The business’s own WhatsApp number and Meta account, through Meta’s official Cloud API | WhatsApp is one of its channels |
| How it is priced | The first flow is built free in ten days; if it does not do what was scoped, the business pays nothing. Running it after that is agreed before we start. | Essential US$14/month billed annually for 250 contacts; Pro US$29/month billed annually for 2,500 |
| Where it runs | On Betterlane’s server; the business keeps its number, Meta account, calendar and facts | In ManyChat’s software |
When each one is the better choice
- ManyChat when most enquiries start on Instagram and you want simple automations there, built by your own team.
- Betterlane when nobody on the team has time to build flows, answers must come only from the clinic’s facts, bookings must check the real calendar, and sensitive questions must go to reception.
What ManyChat and Meta state
From ManyChat’s own page, read on 30 September 2026, in US dollars, and Meta’s rate card. Betterlane publishes no price: the first flow is built free, and running it afterwards is agreed before we start.

What we ran into on our own demo clinic
From Betterlane’s own fictional demo clinic on a Meta test number, September 2026. Not a client system.
- The token from Meta’s dashboard lasted about a day; a permanent system-user token is the first thing to set up for anything that must keep answering overnight.
Questions
Is Betterlane a ManyChat alternative?
For a clinic whose patients write mainly on WhatsApp and that wants the assistant built for it, yes. For Instagram-first automations built in-house, ManyChat is the better fit.
What if most enquiries come from Instagram?
Betterlane’s clinic assistants start on WhatsApp and the website. If most enquiries arrive on Instagram and simple automations are enough, a tool built for Instagram may be the simpler start.
Who owns the WhatsApp number?
The clinic, in both cases: the number sits in the clinic’s Meta business account.
